#2 and #3 are most liked, with #3 just edging in front. I think the simplicity of #3 is what does it.

Sensory memory kicked in. You can feel the sand in one and three. Is that good capture plus sharpening or just good capture?

The originals are actually sharper than they appear here. I used a tripod as I shot at f/16 and f/18. They were sharpened quite a bit in PS. I found it harder than I thought it might be to get the right stones and arrangement.

No 3 and No 4 are superb. Right up my street. No 3 is a winner I keep going back to this one. Very nice work...as usual

Not bad for the under assistant west coast photo man

Nearly got a hernia with #3. I had to move the stones and place them on a clean bit of sand. I didn't want my boot prints in the sand so I had to sort of lean over while trying to gently drop 30lb rocks!

    Thanks for the comments.

    Hi Rob,

For what it's worth, this is the kind of thing that I've often seen for sale on framed prints / canvases ... are they something you'll be trying to sell?

3 & 4 are great! I can "feel" the texture of the sand and rocks. Well done.

    But it was worth it.

Have stared at this now for a few days (not continuously), hence the non-reply. It's just beautiful.

Thank you, Colin. But you have raised a tricky subject. My wife and I have been discussing making money from photography for the past few days, so I'll start a new thread, instead of replying here, called 'Making money from photography" That ought to Google in a few million new members for the forum!

That's odd. I've been staring at images of the actress Rosamund Pike (An Education) for a few days. She's more beautiful. But I thank you for the kind words. And if you want to stare at something else...http://www.tccandler.com/talent_file_rosamund_pike.htm

Yeah, but you have to watch you don't get sand in the sensor. No amount of sensor cleaning will help you there...

I love #3's lighting, tones, textures, and colours; they soothe the eye. Composition is also great--simple but effective.

Thanks, Bleys. I just noticed it looks a lot better when framed as it 'contains' the stones having a strong border. I guess it's always down to presentation.
