    Osprey bringing in dinner

I shot this osprey from my canoe on a wildlife refuge called Rankin. the Holston & the French broad rivers meet. About 20 minutes after I took this shot I thought I heard a cry for help. I look through my binoculars and saw a flash of yellow but the water motion made it hard to see. since I had my 400 mm on my 7D I took a pic and blew it up on my camera( will add what I seen) The picture makes them look a lot closer to me and to the land behind them but they were approximately 1000 yards from me and about 45 yards from the shore behind them. I paddled as fast as I could and pulled this kayaker out of the water.

Nice capture, was the bird and the fallen kayaker related incidents?

Rescuing kayakers in a canoe is backwards isn't it? The whole point of kayaks is that they are more seaworthy than canoes. Well done in any case. I've pulled people out of the water before and I'd hate to have to do so in a canoe.

Did they apologize for messing up our photography session?

no apologies Dan. They were very thankful. I was just glad I could help, I believe they were kind of new to the water, he lost his keys (they should have been tethered or atleast on a floating key chain.) They went out without water 4 hours paddling no water = cramps.(that's what happened to him). And I explained the basic rule of kayaking/canoeing. (always keep your weight over center. He said he was going to sell his kayak. I told him that would be a good Idea or if not to consider taking a class. I don't mean to sound condescending but people who don't take safety seriously get other people or themselves hurt. he almost flipped his wifes' kayak trying to hang onto it. he had a floatation vest bungeed to his kayak.
Well I am rambling, there is a lot of fun to be had on the water, but please think safety first.

Well immersion in fresh water can be another way to hydrate, given enough soak time....
