Marie, I like the photo.

There you go again Marie, setting the bar even higher! I love the way you have captured the essence of the Rose and kept the stem in the shadow to bring more attention to the blossom. Nicely done!
The limited depth of field very nicely adds depth to the image, making photos that are perfectly sharp throughout seem comparatively clinical.
Very nice Mary
Beautiful, indeed!
Hi Marie, the blemishes on the rose pedals help make the image more realistic but because the rose is offset to the right, they, and the brown spikey thing are more centered and therefore get more attention. I love the coloring in the pedals!
I like the second one better.
=) Keep on with the good work!
Thanks, John.
Frank, I can center the rose? I rather liked the spikey thing, but I can see your point. Eye looks more to center.
Thanks, Jonathan.
You right of course but, the question arises...how much DOF is appropriate for an artistic viewpoint? The limited depth of field very nicely adds depth to the image, making photos that are perfectly sharp throughout seem comparatively clinical
Very nice Marie
Marie, although it is wise to listen to other's opinions, it is even wiser to make your own choices based on your personal preferences. Sometimes others opinions help you to mold your personal preferences into something you like better but for the final decision, always be true to yourself.
For me, William, it can be very image specific and often a question of personal taste. When in doubt, grab more than one shot at various DoF and compare on the monitor to see which is most appropriate for you in that situation.
