Hi John The man in blue shirt behind the girl spoils the photo because the girl is wearing a blue jacket and a dark blue hat and that's why there is less seperation between the girl and the BG. Can you do something about the colour of the man's shirt with PP so that image looks better?
It looks better John I wish you could also do something about someone's arm on the left side of the frame but it really looks difficult .
Street shots...never anyone where you want them. Overall I like this shot, mostly I like the expression on the girl's face; lost in thought perhaps. I think (banging that same ole drum) that this would be a candidate for B&W. Nice shot John.
Yes that would mean rebuilding the piece of paper.
Alternatively crop tighter and go for just head and shoulders? Might mean a square crop though.
I really like the composition - I think the other peoplegiveher context, but yes much better with the shirt of the guy behind lighter, but at least he wasn't wearing a bright floral multicoloured number.
It is a really interesting genre, that I always find interesting.
Good shot of the subject, John. The guy in blue doesn't worry but the guy in white with his head sitting on top of the subject's does. I would try cloning a section of the yellow board in the bg and replacing his head with it. I wouldn't worry about his white shirt remaining because it doesn't look explicitly like a shirt or a body, it could be anything back there.
I agree with Jack, this might be a good b&w and the conversion might take care of some of this background problems.
Nice image!
John, another way of making your subject jump out of the comp is to effectively de-saturate the BG or in the case of the mono version (which I prefer), reduce the contrast of/lighten the BG. Means an accurate cut out of the subject (I use a PS plug-in for this) and two layers. Just an alternative thought.
Nice contemplative look on the subject's face.
My solution to the problems being discussed would be to make a 5 x 7 crop. The left side of the frame would just barely eliminate the woman's right hand. The top of the frame would be just barely below the top of her head. The right side of the frame would be just a little to the right of her left elbow.
