    Church, Port Arthur, Tasmania

Another one from my recent trip to Tasmania - this is the ruins of the church there.

Port Arthur was set up as a convict outpost / settlement back in the early 1800s for the 'worst of the worst' convicts.

Great way to spend a day there wondering around - unfortunately for me the main penitentiary build was under conservation repair so I couldn't get any photos of it but I do like how this one of the church turned out.

    Nice shot, Karl.

We see oldsandstone buildings like this dotted around the country side, complete with foreign species of trees surrounding them. It's as if little pieces of europe were transported here, too.

Interesting structure, did you get any low light shots?

To the left of this image there is a big formal garden planted originally by the convicts to remind them and the guards and their families of England.

Unfortunately I didn't - it was a very overcast, windy / rainy day and by 2pm we had enough of the weather

Anyway, I hope to get back there and one day and do the ghost tour.

Very nice structure indeed and nice surroundings I like the texture and colours very much on the walls.
