    Very nice shot Steve,

I feel I ought to say something 'helpful'; I think I would crop just a little off right hand side, no more than losing the G of Strong though, just to make him/her? a little less central.

Is that background how the lens produced it, or is there an element of PP?
Hmmm; f5.6 at 420mm, could be the lens, in which case excellent focusing.

Love the detail under the wing, great shot,

Wonderful. Excellent detail in the wing. If you could tone down the background a bit, all the better.

    Hi,
Such classical image asks classical cropping (ie golden mean, rule of..., moving background...)
    Thank you for reading.

In the same vein as with Rob's 'Stones (not the band)', it was worth it.

That is only possible in Wales!

Great shot Steve. I love the fanning of the top wing. The edit looks good with the bird repositioned. How close were you, and what lens?

Thanks Dave. I had it cropped like that, but then the head was in the center. I split the diff. and made the wing off center to right and head to the left.

    The background is all lens.

I set a treestand about 35 feet high on the edge of the hill.(looking on the down hill side, i'm about 50 feet up) My stand is about 50 yards from one of the roost trees. Alot of times the herons will give me a fly-by at around 35 yards.

    The lens was a canon 300 f/4L + 1.4TC
