damsels in hiding

I thought the Title would draw some attention instead of damselflies hiding. So, if you are thinking of seeing some other pixs, sorry about that. Anyway, your comments and critique would be welcome including some "reprimand" for getting you to peek at these set of pixs

When shooting these little creatures, they sometimes would move and shift their position behind whatever they are holding on to. Thinking they could hide away from me. I always find their action amusing. Hope you find them too.

at certain time of the year, it seems to have an abundance of them. So, I am not sure if they are seasonal.

the trick to shoot them is to let them think so ...

Several insect species have this annoying habit of always going to the other side of their stem and just peering around it at you. Grasshoppers in particular. As you move around for a better camera angle they move as well.

I especially adore the first image. For the moment and the beautiful sharp focus on the eyes, all the more mysterious and set off perfectly by the black background. Gorgeous!

The first one is a really wonderful composition. The creature's habit reminds me of infants hiding from others by putting their hands over their eyes.

Had the same problem today, once again with grasshoppers, and we kept going round the same blade of grass, with them being just one step in front of me!
