I was considering that, in fact I probably will.

I was going to go for the canon D1C, but will probably get the Canon C100 and D4s no

By the way, looooooove your animal shots on your site

I hope the fps on the new body is higher than being reported by NR. If it will shoot 6fps native and a frame or two higher with a grip, I'm all in. A higher fps D800 would be the perfect camera IMO. I've got a D4 and shoot it with the frame rate turned down to 7 or 8 fps. And with the old D300 I got along just fine with 6fps shooting wildlife/birds. D800 IQ shooting at 6fps would be a dream machine

Depends on what you are shooting, I can live with 8fps, but shooting 15 30' powerboats travelling at 70mph plus there are times when I do need better than 6/7 fps.

    Or this

Mind you, I do admire photographers when they only had 36 frames of film and a motordrive

If target velocity dictates your fps needs it's a good thing you're not shooting something that's really moving fast, like a bird of prey in a stoop.

I've gone full circle. Now that I actually have the fps, I'm finding that all it does is generate more culls. But it all depends on what subject matter one shoots and for what purpose. When trying to capture momentary events the chance of success improves dramatically if time between frames is shorter than the duration of the event

I am also looking to the future as most photographers do, I have started shooting cliff top divers and when hitting the point of entry 5fps is pointless

I am also travelling to the USA five times next year shooting stunt planes cutting tapes etc, not just the here and now.

    Thanks JR,

A 1D C? Massive investment! Worth it for anybody serious enough to get the shots.

It will now be the C100 as whilst the 1DC offers in camera slomo the C100 offers built in ND filters and is easier to use
