    Bridge of Dreams- opinions Sought

I recently dragged my wife onto a covered bridge to grab a quick snapshot, but once we got up to it, I thought it had a surreal feeling to it, with great converging lines and vanishing point, so this is what I came up with. Does it work for any of you? I've messed with it so much I've lost all sense of novelty.
Thanks for viewing and any comments are appreciated.

    Hi Kevin,

I really like this. It has an immediate emotional impact. I'm going to have to have a good think about why it does work for me.

My reaction is that the scene is being dreamed, possibly with the subject being the person having the dream.

Thanks, Dave. It did for me intitally as well, but I kind of lost it when I was processing it, and became less sure about it.

Thanks for commenting, Mike. And spot-on. I'll share the explanation I had just sent to my daughter about it: "It's about a dream, and she is dreaming of her own journey. It's call "The Bridge of Dreams".

The composition works really well. As you say the converging lines and vanishing point are captivating. IMO the processing around the person isn't a huge adder. A simple silhoutte with would work well also. Either way a darn fine image.

It might help you to know that I didn't even realize the title of your thread (I opened it only because I saw that it was yours) until you explained again in your post the title of your image; the image on its own conveys the idea of a dream with no need for any caption or title to do so.

Nicely done Kevin. Although it could work very well as a symmetrical image the double use of the Rule of Thirds adds to the ambiance.

Have you tried a view where the bridge fades, as it does here, but the figure is exposed normally? If you did, how did it change the dynamic?

I think it works very well. And I really like the angle you chose to shoot from. Very nice!

Thank you all for your thoughts. Here's another version that I had done that addresses somewhat the adjustments that you've mentioned. As always with my images, please feel free to have your own play with it if you're inclined. It's hard for me to get out of my own head sometimes.

Good to know it's not just me that way. At least in my case there's plenty of room to move around.

Interesting concept, you might try this>duplicate the image and remove the lady from one image>select the lady in the other one and insert her back at a reduced opacity...might work...maybe.

Thanks, Chauncey. You mean to split the difference between the 2 exposures, or to make her darkly translucent?

The second version requires a caption or title to convey the dream in my opinion. Something in between the two versions might work without the text.

    Just make her somewhat translucent/ghostly.
