    Pet with Demon Eyes.

    Hello.

I am trying to fix the demon eyes in this photo for my mother-in-law. This little girl passed away on June 6th at the age of 16 and I would like to make a photo tile for a box which will hold her ashes. I've spent several hours trying to fix the photo and remove the "demon eyes". Could I ask a favor and have someone to help me? I am an amateur at best and any feedback is appreciated.

    Thank you.

What tools do you have? Some editing programs have auto redeye correction but I've never used them so have no idea how well they work.

I am using Pixlr and GIMP. Neither of those tools will correct the demon eyes even with redeye reduction features.

I have found that redeye reduction doesn't work quite well to reduce the glowing eyes. The very best way to get rid of these eyes is to either shoot available light or bounce the flash. However, in your case that is impossible.

One way that has worked for me is to use the clone stamp at 100% opacity and adjust the clone size until it covers the dog's eye and get the clone from a black or very dark area (the dog's back might work). Then paste the black over the glowing eye (for both eyes). You might even place a counterfeit catchlight over the black clone stamp by copying a white or bright area with a very small stamp and pasting that.

BTW: Photoshop and PSE allows you to adjust the size of the stamp pretty exactly by using the ] key to increase the size and the [ key to decrease the size. You can do that with the stamp tool over the area you desire to replace.

While you are doing the eyes, I would also add a right foot and some piece of blanket.
