    Nature always works

These are some images of my kids playing at a peaceful idyllic place near our home...
Bank holiday, off work and I considered where to go, I never was there before but I saw a picture of that place, and it was just lovely weather, so here we go.

Lovely, sweet. Perhaps a bit tighter on the kids would be more effective in the first - context is nice, but perhaps more than you need here. And always great to see children in nature - for more on that see Richard Louv's influential "Last Child in the Woods: Saving our Children from Nature Deficit Disorder".

Yes, I was wondering about going a fraction closer on the top and right with #1.

#2 does have slightly rosy cheeks but the rest of the skin looks OK so this is probably correct.

Just had a look at that book you recommended, Mark. Sounds interesting and to my mind logical. I made the experience that my children simply are happy when they are able to climb on trees and have lots of space, and it also affects on me as I can relax.
Ok, let's see if that works for you:

And another close one of Phileas:

Lovely kids Brigitte I like the images very much. I think your second crop (Phileas) is too tight . I would just crop the horizontal wooden part at the top in #3 because it is a bit distracting, but the rest of the composition is so nice that I wouldn't touch it

Hi Brigitte. I meant something like this for #3. I just cropped the distracting wooden parts from the top and also just a bit from the left. If you don't like I will remove the image , just let me know

Relating my post above , I left some of the horizontal wooden part because it frames Phileas with the vertical ones but even it can be removed if you find distracting and Phileas might come some more closer

Oh my dear, me silly! Arrgh, wanted to crop #3, and cropped #1 instead... embarrassing
I like the idea with the accidently frame, Binnur, but might actually leave the vertical on the top.

Glad you had a look at the book Brigitte - The thesis is supported by some fairly good research, the point being that nature provides a richer, more complex and complexly various ground for the development of imagination than possible with digital doo-dads, to measurable benefit.

Crops - as many possible as there are points on a line, and almost as many that are OK if they are what you like yourself. Crops are the realm where I have gotten the most, and most useful critiques here.

I should add, as Binnur noted, your children are adorable.

Gigi, I like them all but for me I like the first one with both kids. It's a quintessential summer photo. I can't comment on much else as I'm on my smart phone but the all look good to me.
