    Themed Photo Challenge #3 - Work

    This challenge's theme is: Work
    The closing date will be: 16th April 2010
    Theme announcement date was: 3rd March 2010

    There are a few rules;
    A) Photographs must be shot after the theme was announced
    B) Photographs should be posted in this thread before the closing date (don't leave it too late)
    C) If a person enters more than once, each entry should be in a separate post
    D) Please include your theme suggestion for a future challenge, if you win, this may be used
    E) No voting for your own photograph(s)

    Voting;
    When announced, voting (open to any member) will be by Private Message (PM) to Dave Humphries, over a period of two days. This will ask you to state your favourite three photographs in '1st, 2nd, 3rd' order, just as the Monthly un-themed challenge does. Scoring will be done the same '3, 2, 1' points way.

    Theme choices;
    The theme suggestion of the person that entered the winning photograph will normally be used in the next announcement.

    Good luck,

    I have a choice over which piece of equipment to use today. Which would you use?

    Still desperately waiting for the rain to stop; so I have finally had a go at at indoor shot.

    Yes that is what I was thinking, Ron.

    I will add another photo in the hope it will spur on some of those excellent photographers who can do a lot better!

    Still raining. Just the weather for a bit of marine engineering; wet with a gale blowing.

    I was, rather gingerly, leaning over the quayside with my 'rough use' 10D & 28-135 lens. At ISO 800, I managed 1/125 at F8 but ideally would have preferred F11 or smaller.

    Even in the gloom the yellow oilskin is giving a bit of glare so I had a couple of goes at some 'clever' editing but ended up preferring this simple edit as I think the darker rather gloomy light captures the moment better.

    Rough use a 10D That engine looks rough.

    Yes it is a complete re-engine job. But keeping anything looking pristine in a small fishing boat is impossible.

    Most of the time I use a 40D and 24-105 lens for general shots like this but always keep my old equipment in my vehicle for riskier use. I consider that leaning over the quayside while being buffeted by a strong wind constitutes a risky shot. If the worst was to happen, I may 'bounce' on the concrete but my camera gear could suffer irrepairable damage!

    Colin: don't worry, everyone does the same thing. If you click on Edit Post and then at the bottom click on Go Advanced you will see the Title textbox which you can then edit from Hard Yakka to the title of your choice.

    Nice shot by the way
