    Two legged dog

Seth is a very brave young Maltese-poodle (maltipoo) who had both rear legs severely smashed when he was hit by a car.

He learned to walk on his front legs, balancing himself quite well. That must have been very painful when his legs were shattered.

After extensive surgery, its rear legs have been repaired and Seth has begun to put a bit of weight on them (very tentatively at first). The vet's prognosis is that he will eventually regain full use of his rear legs...

Dogs, unlike some humans, never give up. They just make the best of it. Hope the vets prognosis is right.

We could all take a lesson from Seth; far too often people dwell on the negative rather than (like Seth) focus on what IS. I have no doubt that Seth simply moved on, dealt with what was and enjoyed life at every opportunity. There is much to be learned from a dog, not the least: play at every chance, sleep when you're tired, eat when it's given to you and love unconditionally.

Jack, I could not have said it better.

Seth has no regrets. He has moved on to other things. He will make someone a great dog. He is intelligent and smart. A problem solver.

Don't crap where you eat nor bite the hand that feeds you.

    Re: Two legged dog

We just received three more young Maltipoos (Maltese + Poodle) today as well as a young dog who had been chewed up by another dog (luckily no vital areas were damaged). He is healing fast with some antibiotic ointment applications. I am not posting his picture because the wounds look awful even though they are not serious...

In addition to the healthy dogs from our rescue organization, my wife and I specialize in the dogs that need recovery, medical attention and/or rehabilitation. Judy is a retired registered nurse. We also get the pregnant dogs and the mothers with new litters.

Snow White had hip surgery and needed rehabilitation...

Our pool is solar heated and is a great place for aqua therapy...

We are facilitating the placement of two additional dogs from a military family who are getting transferred. They planned ahead and contacted us I photographed the dogs and we placed them on our several websites and will bring them to adoption events. However until they are adopted, they will remain with their family rather than be placed in a foster home...

I have about five dogs to photograph tomorrow and will post their portraits....

Judy has just informed me that with the 3 dogs we received today, our organization has placed or is in the process of finding furever homes for 129 dogs in 2014.

We are sponsoring a concert in August, A salute to the Eagles by Hotel California see our website: http://www.malteserescuecalifornia.org/index.html

Ticket sales are already going well. I am anxious to shoot the concert...

This is Penny. We received her yesterday but with her looks and her personality, she won't be with us long. She is a Maltipoo (Maltese + Poodle),

And this is Patrice another young Maltipoo...

Using a longer focal length (in this case 150mm on my Canon 7D) is good when shooting a dog who has a longer nose like Patrice! It makes the nose look shorter (just as with people portraits),

Penny has been adopted and, unfortunately Patrice has developed a cough. We are treating that cough but she will not be up for adoption for a while until it clears up.

Here is Seth (the original 2-legged dog in this post) now, after some TLC. He can effectively utilize his rear legs...

But, when he is in a real hurry, he will run on his front two legs...
