    Wi-Fi cards question?

Hi, I have an older Canon 1Ds MK II that takes both CF and SD cards if I put a one of these Wi-Fi cards in will it allow me to transfer images straight after the shutter is pressed to my Tablet or Kindle so I can view a larger image result?
    Thanks
    Russ

Russell. I have one of these cards in my Canon 700D, all I know is that I have the software in my camera that I have to enable. If you don't have the software I'm not sure if you would get it through a firmware update. I use a 16Gb Eye-Fi card.

I have the older 8GB Eye-Fi card; and while it was okay performance wise on my point & shoot, it choked on the larger images from my DSLR (the transfer time is not instantaneous and got downright ugly when shooting larger size jpegs and RAW).

I now use a CamRanger; a lot more expensive, but it allows for remote control of the camera. Performance is fantastic versus the Eye-Fi card.

It will work in the way you want but I'd recommend setting the SD slot to smaller jpg files not RAW or, as Manfred says, the transfer times will be dreadful.

I have one of the older Pro cards which can create an ad-hock network which is hand if you're somewhere with no accessible wi-fi or no wi-fi at all.

For what it's worth, even in the studio with the 1D X connected to the network via an ethernet cable I STILL have the 2nd slot spitting out small JPEGs to drop the transfer time for tethered shooting from 7 sec to 2 sec.

I haven't tried an eye-fi card, but I have heard that they're pretty mediocre performance wise.

Older cameras do not always take newer formats in cards check Canons site

Hi, Thanks for ALL the replies. I have done some digging and apparently this can be done with the 1DS MK II, SD Card to write small Jpegs. The only reason I want to do it is because the sight is going down hill and the screen on the back of the 1Ds is small compared to todays cameras so hoping to be able to check an image just to get an impression that it is good or bad.

    Hi Russ,

Consider getting a Hoodman - I use one and they're superb.
