    Choice of lens?

I have a photo shoot tomorrow for a school outing to an aquarium. The venue is large, and I suspect very crowded. The children are between the ages of 3 and 7 years of age. I am trying to capture the children reacting to what they will see. Dolphins and whales outdoors and fish indoors.

    I have two possible lenses to use; 2.8 24-70mm or a 5.6 70-300mm

Any advice or thoughts would be welcomed

If the venue is crowded, you are going to have to be fairly close to your subjects to get the shots, so I suspect that the wider (and faster) lens is going to work out best for you. The long lens means that there will be other bodies between you and your subject, so not an ideal situation with long glass.

David if you want to take only 1 lens I would take the 24-70mm f/2.8 to get the speed inside the aquarium, then hope for good positioning for your to the kids for the shots around the out door whale pool to use the same lens, me I would figure out some what to carry the other lens and use the 70-300mm out doors that way I could sit opposite the kids so they would all be facing me.
