    Arizona Bark Scorpion

Keep in mind that this bad boy is only 1.5 inches long and I had to get really close. I used an overhead light for the natural colors photo and a black light to find him/her originally. They glow a florescent green under black lights which makes them easy to spot.

Well done. This is an organism that looks like what it does, and your images capture that awfully well. Quite a toxic venom as you must know.

That's awesome. The shot under the black light looks like graphics out of a video game or something. Very cool.

Yeah they can be downright nasty from what I've heard. They are quite skittish however. They don't attack unless you are directly in front of press down on them. They are extremely fast too; if you tap them they'll run away and hide but almost as fast as an ant. I've heard from people that their venom feels like a red hot nail going in and staying in for hours.....ouch.

Haha, thanks. It's a longer exposure but since the Scorpion doesn't move often it was actually pretty easy to do. The exposure time was 10 seconds.

I captured it and put it in an aquarium....still had sweaty palms the whole time because just one prick will ruin your week.
