I prefer the color version as well as the composition.
B&W seems a little too crispy.

Thanks all-
I may do some more experimenting Chauncey, as I like crisp, (it has taken me a lot of practice to get crisp lol) but deliberate mistier might work too.

I like them both, they say different things and I certainly agree with your sentiments that some times the B&W of a flower works - I've yet to satisfactorily achieve it. In the B&W I would try and darken the background as I find the foliage a little distracting which is not the case with the colour version.
