Hi, Jon,
This is strictly my opinion. #1, the begonia, in black and white, needs a bit more contrast. #2, the rose, the color version is luscious. The black and white suffers from a bit of noise? #3, the clematis, is beautiful in black and white, but needs a different crop?
Just my humble,
Marie
Marie, thank you for your thoughts. Regarding #1, I purposely kept the contrast toned slightly down (just trying something different). #2 I know is noisy and is my least favorite of the 3 (I reluctantly added it here). As far as the Clematis goes the background was not favorable hence the tight crop, but I will play with it some and see what I can come up with.
Cheers
Nice efforts, the mono renditions are nicely presented.
Sorry, can't help you here, Jon. They all look good on their own way.
My opinion is the roses do not have enough texture or contrast to make it as black and white, better in colour. The Clementis does have enough texture to be successful as black and white and I prefer the black and white as it is a more unique image.
I like colour in the first, B&W in the second and can't decide on the third (although perhaps the B&W is a little dark ?) -howzat ??
Jon, that question is best answered by you...which versions would you hang? Put them on your desktop to see which you prefer over an extended period of time.![]()
