    Guildford Cathedral

I've been a busy boy recently but this week I had to take time off work to look after my son for two days as our childminder was on holiday. We had a few hours to kill in Guildford before picking up Alex's Mummy so we went up to the cathedral or "the castle" as Alex calls it.

I noticed there are a few cathedral posts on here at the moment so thought I would share some photos we took:

Alex was a little unsure about the place and when the organ piped up he wanted to leave, I don't blame him it was very loud

So we finished off with a picnic in the cathedral gardens

Hope you enjoy the pictures and as always open to constructive criticism or critique

Nice series but 3 and 4 are really good. Like the way you haven't been afraid of cropping 3 to suite the subject.

Great shots. I love the contrasts of the B&W and then the wow of the colour as your story changes - very effective use of pictures and words.

Well done on the first shot - I tried one of these in Italy recently but wasn't happy with the way it came out - I could see the shot, but not capture it !

    Thanks John

Image 3 was actually only lightly cropped just to straighten up and centre the image. Image 2 however was heavily cropped. I hadn't visualised the shot on site the original image was a portrait shot with this being toward the top of the image. In post I liked the angles. I try not to crop too much but sometimes it can work.

    Hi Kaye

Thanks for the comments, I do try to provide a bit of description to my photos just to give a little helping hand to the viewer to understand why I was taking the photos and a little of what happened.

I certainly know what you mean by sometimes being able to view the image in your mind but then having trouble converting that to the camera.
