Red Beetle from the garden
I came across this in the garden. Anyone know what it is? I'd say the image shows it 3 to 4 times life size.
In the shade, hand held, moving and a slowish shutter speed as a result. I couldn't get close enough either really.

It's a Lily Beetle John and you don't want it in the Garden. They can be quite destructive to some plants (not just lilies). It's a shame because they are quite photogenic.

Re: Red Beetle from the garden
Thanks John. I don't think we have many as I look to see what's about each day. Very little here. It would be nice to catch one in a more suitable position. There after they can be crushed one at a time it seems. Insecticides cause problems for bees and other creatures. I've never seen one before. I have added a purely wild flower section recently but more likely it may have a liking to some plants my son has added recently.
Oddly something is eating away at a few leaves on some plants but I don't think it is these. This one seemed more interested in moving around than eating.
