    St. Conan's Kirk

I stopped to have a look at this Kirk whilst on holiday in Scotland. TheKirk has an interesting history especially the construction methods and architectural styles used in the construction. For those who may be interested take a look HERE

This view was very challenging wrt the lighting inside. I decided to give the HDR process a try out, really as some personal practice in this type of processing. So this is my first attempt with the set of images I made inside the Kirk.

Here you see the semicircular apse and ambulatory with their solid pillars, narrow arches and clear-glass windows.

As always I would welcome your thoughts/critique on the images

It looks like you did fairly well with managing the dynamic exposure range in this setting Peter. The blended image has retained the detail in the wooden dome and the back wall stone quite nicely without giving up too much of the highlight detail in the second level windows.

Some nice work Peter. Of the first two, I like the HDR version the most because the mid tone contrast is better and the highlights are more controlled. However, as Frank points our the detail in the shadow areas is better defined in the second. It would be nice if you could incorporate that in the first. The third is a nice study. You have captured the texture of the wood very effectively.

Sorry for my late response, many thanks for stopping by and commenting. I shall have a look at combining the two main images to bring in the better roof detail.
