Cat Portraits
I am house sitting/cat sitting and I am really not a cat person. One of the two cats follows me around constantly so I figured I would take advantage of the situation and take some pics. Don't recall doing any pet pictures before so thought I would post to see what you thought.
Any and all critiques are most welcomed.
1. Striking A Nice Pose.
f 5.2 with flash (I think my f stop could have been better so there was more in focus)
2. Mug Shot
f 5.6 with flash
3. Tried for a close up of the face. I am not sure about this one.

Re: Cat Portraits
Hi, Rita. My bride and I are dog lovers and we house sat for some people with cats. It was quite unnerving.
Never having shot cats nor paid much attention to shots of them, my inclination would be to say that as long as you get the eyes and whiskers sharp, you're golden. However in the second shot I find it a bit off not seeing the ears sharp as well.
That is a pretty cat.

Re: Cat Portraits
The mugshots are perfect, you should work for the Police Department.
I'm sure the judge and jury will find that cat guilty when it comes to trial
You might try filling the pupil with black for a more normal appearance. Cats (and alligators) have greeneye, not redeye. Here is a hamfisted attempt.

Re: Cat Portraits
I probably should have called them Mogshots instead of mugshots.

Re: Cat Portraits
Dan, thanks for the feedback. I also am a dog person and as nice looking as these 2 are I have contemplated trading them in for a puppy. However, I think the owners would notice when they came back
Brian, don't know how but I totally missed the lack of black in the eyes, I will fix that later (or try too). Never mind waiting for trial this fellow is guilty before trial

Re: Cat Portraits
Love the first one Rita. After that the eyes seem to be looking into my soul.

Re: Cat Portraits
I love the 2nd, Rita. The little bugga looks stunned - kinda reminds me of Garfield

Re: Cat Portraits
Hi Rita, Cats are intelligent creatures, so if one is following you around that makes you a good person
I like the first image the most as it is not the normal angle I would expect. Profile is interesting.

Re: Cat Portraits
I get a sense of the cat's personality in the first one that isn't conveyed in the others for me. Well done with that one!

Re: Cat Portraits
Greg and Mike, thank you. The first pic was a serious attempt on my part and 2 & 3 were more just for fun to see how they would turn out. This cat has amazing character, the other cat just hides
