    Mini Competition #81

    Here's how it works ...

    - You good folks post images in the thread (please change your post title to a name for your picture)

    - When we get 10 images we will attach a voting poll

    - After 3 days the poll closes and the winner is declared!

    - If you would especially like some critique after the competition poll closes, please make it known in the post

    Too easy eh?

Limit of 1 image per post, and 2 image posts per person.

If there are already 10 in the current comp, please start a new thread in this forums

How clever is weather ... note the even melt around the warming rock. The 'hairs' in the snow/ice are Pine Needles frozen in over winter.

That is a pretty damn good shot. I like the way the cloud seems to extend from the boat bow. Lovely colours.

    Thanks Rob,

It was a very interesting shot for me - I took a lot of shots at various positions by donning waders and wading into the sea water; tripod & camera in hand, although I THINK I took this particular frame from some nearby land. To be honest, I didn't really like it when I first worked on it and didn't do anything with it ... and then I discovered it buried deep on my website and actually liked it a bit more this time (perhaps my taste has changed over the past year or so) - so I thought I'd "test the waters" in the mini-comp to see what others thought - and was quite surprised at the result - so I might have to think about elevating it to equal status with my other work - any thoughts on that? (worthy or not?). In my mind the shot was just a but too plain; a similar composition with a fiery sunrise would have looked better - the cloud / water effect is just my usual long-exposure trick.

No way. I didn't comment because it was in the mini comp. And after voting closed, I forgot to!! I think it's gorgeous. It's the 'plainness' that is its strength. My biggest surprise is that you didn't rate it highly at first.

I assumed it was already there.

No way. Less is very definitely more. I'd buy it - and I don't often say that. But then I often find that images I post on here get a reception that surprises me. Some people like things I almost junked and the opposite sometimes happens. You can never tell. It is very good, and you ought to try selling it (I mean to say, look at the number of votes it got).
