    Daybreak Horizon

I liked the look of the dark clouds against the light sky in this early morning horizon. I almost named this one 'The Sun-Less Rise' as the sun isn't visible at all in this view.

It would have been nice to have had a subject in the foreground but had to settle for the simplicity of a bare horizon.

Lovely and even more impressive when viewed large. I love how the cloud color is reflected in the water.

Absolutely gorgeous! The sky is so beautiful that for me a foreground subject isn't necessary.

It is a lovely scene, Frank. The pre-sunrise and post-sunset skies are nearly always more interesting than the actual sunrise/sunset. Just as well there wasn't anything in the foreground. Then you would have had the debate of whether to go with silhouette or to brighten the shadows

A real beauty, Frank. Great eye and well-captured. Sometimes it seems one has to tone down the dramatic colors in such shots to make them believable.

I think the calm waters make for a pleasing foreground.

Glad you like it Marie! ...and thank you for the feedback! By the way, Corrine's Amaryllis Half 'n Half and Vera are now in bloom so I'm hoping to get some more images for your review!

I have to agree with you Christina. Sometimes simplicity works best. Thanks!

Thanks Dan! I couldn't be sure just where the sun was when I took this. It looked like it should be right behind the cloud but it might have been much lower. I'm OK with nothing in the foreground but if there was something there, it would have to make the image more interesting and the more I look at it, the better I like the way the water plays with the clouds - as Marie points out.

Yes, Otávio, it was they way the clouds accentuated the sky that made me think that this was not just another typical sunrise and might just be worth snapping. Much appreciated!

I sometimes find it difficult to remember just how dramatic the colors are but in this case, I recall them being possibly even more vibrant than the camera captured them. Your comments are very appreciated Mark!

I agree Binnur! Some scenes just speak to the heart. In this case I may have shot over 100 images to catch the colours and lighting just right. In the end, only five images were used for this panorama, but I feel that they were the best five images from the set. At least I certainly hope so!

Beautiful shot, Frank. I had never noticed the way clouds cast shadows on the water like that until I started trying to capture the sunrise.

Well done all around, Frank! I feel bad for the people who don't view this magnificent image at the large size.

Stunning image Frank. The sky is so wonderful that I don't think that anything in the foreground would do it justice.
