Smithsonian Folklife Festival -- CHINA

The 2014 Smithsonian Folklife Festival located on the Mall in Washington, DC features two countries this year -- China and Kenya. The photos in this thread were captured in the Chinese section of the festival. There is a large, main structure supported entirely by bamboo and also lots of Chinese food, visual and performing arts, cooking demonstrations, crafts and plenty of things for the young children to do. The festival is all about promoting cultural awareness, as the only thing that is for sale is the food not prepared at the cooking demonstrations.

I like all of them It's a pity that the instrument was cropped in #2.

So true! I kept hoping that he would raise the end of it higher and closer to his head. That never happened. Instead, that part of the instrument was always in front of another singer.
