Sai Wan War Cemetery
A couple of years ago someone posted here asking how best to go about photographing cemeteries. The topic interested me and as a result I started visiting cemeteries during my travels. My latest was a trip to was a failed Landscape photo shoot during which we passed the Sai Wan (Commonwealth) War Cemetery (Hong Kong). It was a beautiful and sombre place filled with far too many fallen soldiers.....
Known unto God
There are a handful more at http://danmarchant.com/2014/06/the-gin-drinkers-line/, plus a far too brief intro to the rather short Battle for Hong Kong and the Gin Drinkers Line (defensive emplacements).

Re: Sai Wan War Cemetery
Very nice photo, Dan. Lots of information in it at a glance yet the subject is immediately obvious.

Re: Sai Wan War Cemetery
Thanks Mike,
Yep the more you look the more information you start to pick up. The other photos showed the variety of nationalities buried there, the depressingly large number of soldiers who couldn't be identified (there were more "known unto God" than there were named soldiers) and of course the huge number of young men who lost their lives. Wasn't until I was looking at the images later that I noticed that a few older me were also buried there. One of the other images on my photo site is the grave of a 58 year old Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Force member.
