    Dusk

With the help I was given in the processing forum I have found a few key concepts that have opened up the wide world of Gimp a whole bunch more. I will still be shooting wee beasties and beautiful flowers but the shots will hopefully be going through a great deal of development. So please any and all critique will be appreciated.

You need to isolate the subject, as well as fix the underexposure of the overall image. The one whitish leaf in the left hand corner draws our attention directly to it, if this isn't your subject you need to do something to lessen its effect.

Hi Brian I agree that the image is underexposed but it really looks nice this way for me, because it has a gloomy mood. It might be better to brigthen it for a more appropriate approach but if you want to keep the gloomy mood, just leave it as it is .

In addition to my post above, the mood of the image and your title support each other very well

I actually did not underexpose the shot. I just liked the feeling of moving into the night so I darkened it down.
