Please Help Me Choose Photo Gift

Hello All: My niece, who lives in Toronto, just bought her very first house and I am trying to find an appropriate gift. She loves animals and she likes to visit our hobby farm in North Western Ontario.

I found a site on the web that makes canvas prints for a relatively low price. I know nothing about this company. I chose these three shots of animals around our property. They are all on my Flickr page. I chose them because they were all in the same colour family. I can edit the original photos in my PP software if need be. This image is a screen shot from the site's "build page". I was thinking that three images in a row (all the same size) would be better but this site did not provide such an option.

Any thoughts? What about the placement of these photos? Should I opt for the smaller size (16 inches x 24 inches) or the larger (24 inches by 36 inches)? Does anyone have any other recommendations for canvas printers. I live close to the US border so I can order something from there and just pick it up from the closest US postal outlet.

1. If the software you are using does not allow the layout you want, use different software. Photoshop Elements, for example, will let you create a canvas with dimensions selected by you and you can place as many images on the canvas as you want, any size and orientation. Other software will have similar capabilities. Your final layout can be saved as one file for uploading to the canvas company.
2. The size you can print is dependent on how many pixels your images have. Some software, for example, Lightroom, will allow to uprez your image to allow larger printing. For printing on canvas I would recommend not going below 100 dpi.
3. I have used Adoramapix and Canvas On Demand. Both make great prints. Canvas On Demand came with better hanging hardware.

Susan I am going to suggest two places to get your work done, you will get excellent work from either one of them. One is in Toronto and the other in Bracebridge you will notice that the prices are the same as the two are similar with the Toronto operation setup up more to handle photos on metal. They also print for other suppliers of canvas prints. Again you will have no problems about the quality of the work.

When considering print size you should also consider image quality and viewing distance. Nature photos should be a bit more forgiving unless there is considerable amounts of sky. I gave a friend a 24"x 36" print (view of the Bay Bridge) as a gift and she loves it. However, as her apartment is quite small it does tend to dominate the room.
