    I prefer the darker as well, but it's something I've been working towards correcting. Now I try to get a good balance or darks where darks need to be.

    Hi Brian, what about this version? If you don't like it, please let me know and I will remove it. I duplicated the layer (lighter one) and used a softlight blending mode. I think you might have 'blending modes' in GIMP too.

    Don't you dare remove it. Any shot I put in CiC is open for critique and redoing. Gimp does indeed have soft liht and the ability to adjust.

    your version gives a pleaenter overall shot but the dark one draws (at least my) attention to the core of the shot.

    I prefer the dark shot because it centers my attention on the center of the shot.
