Developing a spider fetish now Brian

Can't be a spider; count the legs, to say nothing of the eyes. So must be some form of weird insect.
Well to be honest, with those long antennae, I had to look twice!
Whatever insect it is, I like the colour and velvety look . Nice image with nice colours and patterns
Beautiful image!
I wonder if you placed a wee little bit of sugar (not so much that you can see the sugar) on the leaf if the ant might turn around and face you.
Just a thought but, besides the possibility of it being an ant (the antennae are rather ant like), there are some solitary wasps which are wingless and look rather ant like. For example Myrmosa species.
With that particular photo, I think I would be struggling to find an identification even if it was a simple UK species!
Hi Brian,
Yes, and you captured this lady on a trek beautifully. And yes indeed I recall that other beauty overlooking the dark abyss.
The green leaves are making for beautiful backgrounds for your ants and grasshoppers (the latest ones that I recall) And the only thing I can think of to bring these beautiful images of yours to another level is for you to capture the eyes, one of your ants or grasshoppers looking right at us would be truly stunning. Hence the suggestion for a wee grain of sugar, drop of honey.
