Bandon Beach Oregon
The rock formations along the beach could keep a photographer busy for days and days...unfortunately I only had time for one daytime scouting visit and then a trip the following morning.
Here is the broad view of the vantage point from the beach on my scouting visit (hand held at midday)...

This image may be a tad over sharpened and I would like your opinion on that as well as the composition and processing.
It seems as if the image is leaning ever so slightly to the right but my grid lines tell me that the horizon is straight so I'm thinking that it is an illusion due to the slant of the shoreline?
Compositionally I think that some of you may feel that there is too much sky. I will look forward to hearing your thoughts on that.
Processing can be a bit challenging as there seems to be some sort of mist in the air all day so there is a balance to be had between maintaining the misting feeling of the view and adding enough contrast for the image to have some pop. White balance is also a challenge as there is a strong blue cast SOOC.

Very nice. Maybe try bringing the highlights down and decreasing the contrast a tad. Bring your saturation and vibrance up a tad as well. Also cool the WB a little and and add some magenta. Here's my try.

Shane I think you need to decide which is the subject of this image: the rocks or the sky? As it is, I find the two competing for my attention. I find the rocks more interesting and, if you have the pixels, I would try a pano crop. Something like this:

Nicely done, I think both the original and Greg's crop work, it depends on what elements you feel are necessary to lead the viewers eyes where you want them. The cloud formation serves as a leading line but you have a similar line below from the shoreline, one line leads you into the image and the other line leads you out.

Hi Shane
Greg's crop is actually what I had in mind when I first saw your original version. But I prefer the original colour of the sand , I find its colour a bit distracting in Greg's edit. Lovely image

Beautiful images. I like all of these including the different white balances. Nothing looks crooked to me, just a natural horizon.
I love the big sky shots (and also the cropped image) and if it were my image I would keep the big sky. But I'm always being advised to crop my skies.

Thank you everyone! I have more from the trip to edit and share so I will keep your suggestions in mind as I do that and will revisit this image to see how it fits into the set when I am further along in that process.
I have set the bar so high for myself that it is a challenge to get 'the one' that I feel is just right

I love the sky in the original - the cloud line perfectly reflects the waterline. Perhaps it's the haze that distracts you Shane? I like the warm colour of the sand too.

Re: Bandon Beach Oregon
Gregs crop works for me but would like a bluer sky.

Re: Bandon Beach Oregon
The original and Greg's version both work great for me for different reasons. My only suggestion to improve the first one is to remove the haze as Greg has done in his version.
