    Moth Macro

Having seen so many good bug macros posted recently it spurred me on to get the camera out and get back into it so here's a couple of a fella that joined me for a quick session the other night. It had landed on the table and did not mind being coaxed onto a stage for a while but after a few shots the wings started buzzing and after about 30 seconds of warming up hovered off.

Shot with the 105VR at 1:1, 2 x SR200s on the front of the lens with diffusers,TTL.

Good and sharp. It looks nice and furry but maybe a wee bit small to pat or stroke.

Excellent. Lovely detail. You don't think of them as hairy creatures but they are.

I would love to learn how you manage to fill the frame with a head-on shots, keeping the sharp focus and all the beautiful detail you always manage, and hand-held (if I remember correctly)

It's surprising how fury these are but when seen up close like this they are also a bit tatty.

Hi Christina, there's not too many critters around at the moment I think it's because it cool here so I was quite pleased this came along when I had the urge to do some shooting.

    It's all about the eyes

I like this angle for them Frank, but only possible when you can get a bit lower than them.
