Re: Killing Time
Lovely, Phil.
I love how he is framed by the door and by the light. Excellent conversion.
Did he ever notice you?

Re: Killing Time
I'd agree that using the door as a framing device is nice in this photo.
I wonder though if it could be cropped a little bit differently. I keep going back and forth wondering if that lighter patch of brickwork on the right distracts or balances the photo. I think I lean to distracting. But if you crop that out the photo might be too symmetrical. For what ever it's worth, I think if the guy had been facing the other direction, the lighter bricks would have been a great balance.
Either way, if you can, it would be interesting to see it with more contrast. If the bricks popped out more it would provide a background pattern. But you'll have to be careful not to overpower the subject.
All that said, I do like the image.

Re: Killing Time
Great image, love the background. I would love to take shots like that but find it really uncomfortable pointing my camera at the public without their knowledge or consent. I keep thinking that I will get arrested or someone will get offended and punch my lights out.........I have real admiration for these type of shots and maybe one day I will be brave enough to have a go

Re: Killing Time
Phil, great shot! Composition, conversion, vision all come together to make a great image.
And IMHO the brick fill on the right only lends more complexity to the image.
