    Small bug big flower

This was the consolation prize having failed miserably to achieve my goal during the afternoons trip out to get a decent capture of a dragonfly.

+1 Graham. At least it was still there. I tend to blink and they're gone.

Absolutely gorgeous! I love the perspective, beautiful colours/background/detail, and the surprise glimpse of a little bug. You photograph flowers beautifully...

Thank you David. I just wish I had been able to post a dragonfly on it

    Cheers, Grahame

This one moved around pretty fast John and this was the only shot that his head was reasonably in view.

    Hi Christina,

This was one of the very rare occasions where I was able to open this lens up so much with the aim of minimising DoF and I was especially pleased with the background which was a bit messy. I'll return to the same location again to see what I can find.

    Hi Grahame,

Yes, it seems difficult to capture just the right amount of DOF (ie; out of focus water droplets and petals) while blurring the background beautifully. I remember your beautiful tulip and I'm looking forward to seeing your next set.

Thank you Binnur, the colours were a bit of a challenge not to overdo.

Thanks John, it makes a change from my usual larger bugs.

I certainly could Brian, this is the un-cropped version.

To me, this puts the flower too central and the crop also removed the problem area at the top right, I'm not into trying to sort things like that in post. Ideally I would have liked to have been able to crop from the left but the ideal solution would have been to get in closer and frame as I wanted but I was somewhat hanging over the edge of the pond stretched almost to my limit
