The composition in #2 works better for me Mark.

The exposure on #1 is better though, glad to see you didn't blow the red channel on either shot, it is soooooooo easily done.

and I'm getting a little hooked...
Well you had the lens, so you may as well use it for macro too (not just portraits).

    Thanks all.

Hows this David? i dont actually use the lens much for portraiture, now ive got my 70/200 f 2.8 this one spends a lot of time in the bag....I think the problem with the second image was as much the clarity as exposure, id softened it up quite a lot

And here's another interpretation as im a B&W junkie

Mark...I did not comment earlier because I might offend...I like making stupid comments to get a smile here and there than making harsh comments... but here I will say it anyway -- maybe next time when you shoot your flowers, lessen the water drops? It is drowning the whole image. If this came in from the rain, shake it a little till you have enough drops to just form an enhancement to it. Sorry.....

No Need to be sorry Izzie, had i not wanted comment i wouldnt of asked for it and the negative is as important as the positive. In fact i sometimes get a little bored with the "nice shot" comments! (not you Dave & Binnur, you have both given creative comment when you thought it required) just like i get annoyed with peeps who post their own work with out saying anything about them or peeps who post 20 shots and ask for C&C on all of them, how much time do they think we have??

anyway rant over! next time i wont be so fervent with the garden sprayer

Hi Mark, so you didn't spent a long time in Istanbul Dalaman is in the south. It is an hour away from Marmaris by car , Marmaris is a touristic town. Do you ever have the opportunity to get off the boat and see around ?

BTW, I have an avatar now

Thanks Mark...now I feel better...I understand how you feel about millions of uploaded shots...but not from Grahame, Dave, Manfred, Christina, Shane, Frank, William Boyer, Greg, etc.... I've known for a short time I have been here. They are not that demanding. One annoyance that I have are those that just post and never give any comment about others, just concerned about their shots being commented on. They know who they are. They wouldn't even look at this post at all...we all have pet peeves and specific people peeve. I have learned to ignore them. Life is too short to worry about peeps according to one who of those who PM-ed me when I disappeared for a little while...I may disappear again soon but I am thinking about it for now...

I love your attitude. Keep shooting. Keep improving...as I will. Thanks again...

    NO NO NO Izzie

Once you shake the flower/plant the water drops that break down then run and cause a yucky mess

It's a pity that you couldn't see Istanbul . Although I'm fed up with it, foreigners usually like it . I hope you will see some other nice places when you get off. Have a good journey

Even though the colour is just lovely & vibrant, I feel myself drawn to the somewhat slightly abstract nature of the B/W... Call me crazy?
