    Burr Oak

    Burr Oak

My first shot ever taken for the sole purpose of conversion to B&W.

This Burr Oak has seen so much.

The Dakota, fur trappers, the first explorers seeking the Westward passage. Each in their own time has taken shelter under its limbs.

It has witnessed the earliest settlers seeking their dream, the Sioux uprising of 1865, Manifest Destiny.

It has endured drought, blizzard, fire, and lightning strike during terrifying storm.

    And it survives

That tree looks its age! The b/w looks pretty good to me. Might be nice to see a little darker color in it somewhere, but wouldn't want to black out the detail anywhere. Looks like the exposure was about right.
