    Tattoo Parlor

I had the luxury of having a friend of mine shoot some pics in his tattoo parlor this sunday.
All of the pics were originally taken in color but the lighting in the parlor was difficult since there was a mix of sunlight, tungsten and florescent lights another friend suggested I process some of the pics in black and white. After viewing the end result, I strongly agree with him.

Here are a few of the pics.

    Hi Paul

I like #4 very much.Nice lighting and an interesting scene. What ISO and speed did you use. That guy in the chair doesn't look too happy!

Thanks! I used ISO 500 for all of the shots but I dont remember the shutter speeds off the top of my head.
As for the dude, he was feeling sick, so he decided to go home and come back another time to finish up.

I like the top one, if you could get it without the table it would be perfect and the partially blown door gives atmosphere. I like brown more than purple and yep, it sure is a fine photo.

It's hard to blame him for that: you can see in #3 that it's a pretty big tattoo.

It's a great series, with a documentary feel or a little bit film noir, with the pools of light. Which works great with B&W, and also with the mood of the guy in the chair.

#2 might not make sense in isolation, but it's a wonderful addition to the series: "Yeah, it's a tattoo parlor, but we still do invoices." And the face on the guy's arm is very cool.

One comment on #4, it looks as if it could use a little CW rotation.

    Cheers,
    Rick

The #2 photo, he was sketching a design before putting it through the scanning machine. I have some more pics that I should post.

Oops, that kind of blows my concept of, "We do work here, too." I had that in mind because of the coffee cup on the table: it seemed to make a nice complementary motif.

    Cheers,
    Rick
