Absolem's Chair
...and Absolem crawled away wet and a little more cantankerous than before...

Re: Absolem's Chair
Yet, another stunning image. Incredibly fascinating. I suppose you are aware that it looks like a crystal leg with a jeweled foot?
I love the colours (gorgeous) and although I understand the why of a vignette, I think I would prefer this one without the vignette because the red colour surrounding the subject is simply stunning, and the subject certainly doesn't need any help to stand out. (personal preference)
I'm curious about the how-to of the image but I am not going to ask because I prefer to simply enjoy the magic of your incredible images.

Re: Absolem's Chair
Christina, John, thank you.
I have been shooting some archival (read: boring) stuff to have on hand. I just thought this was an interesting shot so I was just playing around with some differing techniques.
Christina, thank you for the suggestions. Its rare that I get any here with the studio stuff I do and they are appreciated. Especially from someone with as good an Eye as you have.

Hi Terry,
I wish I could offer more than just my personal preference eye, but thank you.

Well im not going to beet around the bush! how did you capture it? fantastic piece of work. Christine is right about the vignette but in my opinion only partly, for me the problem with it is that it isnt feathered and the edge is far to defined if you know what i mean? i think it would not work so well with no vignette at all.

Re: Absolem's Chair
Hi Mark,
Thank you for commenting. I know exactly what you mean.
To be honest this is not what I would consider a “portfolio” type shot. I was shooting for the archives. I got this shot and thought it was interesting and there were a couple of post techniques I wanted to look into so I decided to have a play with it! To my mind the shot has some problems but it was fun to work with. For example I don’t like the “foot”! I should have done something different with it but I had already put in enough time on it and wanted to do some other things.
Everything other than the straight water splash (mushroom) was done artificially (in Photoshop) which required extracting the splash and layering in the color and background.
The splash is one frame, one shot.
