Peter, looks like a higher shutter speed was called for.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting, much appreciated.
I didn't have any chance to do anything to the camera settings other than to switch to one of my custom modes which gives me auto ISO, and a reasonably shutter speed. The camera is set so that I don't need to look at the mode dial I just have rotate clockwise to the stop, point and shoot which; was the case with these two images.
Had I put my hand out of the car window I could probably have pinched the buttercup I was that close to the deer
Here's the next frame

Nice and cute , I prefer #1
I prefer #1 Peter...I like the pose very much...the curiousity ....
Thanks for taking time to comment IzzieK and Binnur 👍
I prefer the brightness of #2, although #1's mouth position is better.
Thanks Carol for taking time to comment, much appreciated.
Beautiful capture, we have them in great numbers around here ( in and around the yard) but i've never been able to get a good close up.
Irene
Now that's a closeup. Lovely eyes. With her that close you did well with the DOF to get her entire face within it.
Except for the gaping, i liked the second image for its better sharpness and rich colors
