    Work in Progress

After revealing my "dark side" with Deliverance, it's back to more conventional images with a sunset shot of the area that I work in during my "other life" ...

I like this a lot more than Deliverance but don't understand how the titles of either one of them relate to the respective image. Your white frames work for me, but not these black frames.

They're very different; this is a photo - Deliverance is art.

but don't understand how the titles of either one of them relate to the respective image.
    That's OK - you don't have to

A white frame around an image like Deliverance would be totally over-powering; dark frames lift / showcase the relatively low tones and are more befitting of a low-key / understated image - in this artists opinion anyway.

I love the light you have captured in the clouds, Colin. But looking at the smoothness of the water, I am wondering if this is a long exposure?

    Re: Work in Progress

Thanks folks. Single frame, 2.5 sec exposure, calm seas.

In reality, the shoot went something like this ...

    - Sneak off in the middle of the afternoon and go fly my RC helicopter

    - Drive back around 4:30pm and see some VERY sexy light and calm water

    - Race around to work and hastily pack a couple of camera bags

    - Race back to the sexy light (which has aged considerably in the 20 min or so it's taken me to get back)

    - Think / shoot / think / shoot / rinse / repeat until "that's a wrap folks"

I'm just kicking myself for not having gear on board when I drove past the first time - that would have been a GREAT shot.

In reality I bracketed the heck out of everything with a view to considering an HDR, but in the end I just ran with a single (albeit ideal exposure) frame.

For those who are wondering, the title is a bit of a play on words - as the subject of the scene are my main client and a lot of my co-contractors - and with a vessel due to depart shortly there was a lot of "work in progress" when I took the shot.

Beautiful! I love the serenity of the scene - soft colours and clouds (real and reflected)
