    Harvest time in Burgundy

I was very lucky that when I bought my Sigma 120-400 F4.5-5.6 APO DG OS no one had told me that thing about landscapes being meant to be shot with wide angle lenses. This was at 400mm on my Canon crop camera.

As always I welcome comments and opinions.

    Donald,

You more than made up for the lack of UWA by literally being there within the scene. Nicely captured.

I didn't realize that you are so mean, Donald. When you created the title of the thread, you knew I would expect to see grapes being harvested.

Your image is a great example of when haze in the distance can be an advantage because of the excellent background it provides that otherwise might blend in too much with the subject.

Last week when I was in Norway I actually saw hay being gathered in the old style of rectangular bales. That was just one very small farm but it was great to see.

Sorry, Mike. The hillside in the background is the Cote de Beaune (and beyond). Beaune itself is to the right and what we're looking at is the Volnay/Pommard section of the Cote.

Local people are quite worried about the emerging trend of the 'big boys' (LVMH, etc) coming and buying land here. Burgundy has not gone the way of Bordeaux and other famous wine-making areas of having the huge companies or foreign investors come in and buy it all up. Instead it has remained the land of the small(ish) farmer with his few rows of vines in a number of different parts of the Cote. That is now under threat.
