Arizona Haboob/Dust Storm

Hi Everybody,

We just had a dust storm blow in and I'm sure you're familiar with the shots of the valley and a big, brown cloud swallowing us up. This is a view from inside that "cloud" of dust.

The nearest thing I've seen to that in person is, during the reverse side of the year, one of our "Great White Haboobs!

Those clouds must leave a mess after themselves.

I've never been inside a dust storm. The light looks amazing.

This is such a nice shot....the colours are almost like sunset. Last time I saw one (and taken a shot of which is still hanging on our county's offices...) was in 1982...no digital at the time yet. I was on my way home from the airport when I saw it coming in from Port Phillip Bay. The dirt, the dust and the heat...all combined...

The light looks amazing right at the beginning before you are completely inside of it and at the end. When you are completely covered it's like a brown blizzard. Still something different to look at though.

I don't miss Upstate NY snow at all. These dust storms leave a very fine brown sticky dust layer on EVERYTHING. I have to hose of my grill because it no longer looks stainless it looks like its made out of clay.
