That is a great action photo! I love their facial expressions!
Fabulous shot ... I have problems with panning so still practicing with that. Well done for getting a sharp image of the 2 kids.
Joanne...difficult shot with difficult lighting with colors being spot-on...well done.
That is a beauty. The composition is fantastic - all those chains. Only thing I wondered about was about putting a bit of fill light on he boy's face to lighten just a little so we could more easily see some detail
I love it, and agree with Donald about bringing in some light into the boys face.
The first place I would try is the shadow slider in LR...delicate sliding to the right might be all you need.
A bit of dodging would probably do the trick Joanne. Try setting the tool for "shadows" and at around 5-8% exposure and a brush big enough to cover the dark part of the face only. Make a couple of passes and see how you go. After that see if you need to reset the brush to "mid tones" and same percentage and size and see if a couple more passes are needed.
What a difficult and great shot!
Joanne: As others have mentioned, you need to selectively brighten parts of the image, rather than globally brighten the entire image. When you brighten the dark areas of the boy's face, be sure to brighten the same dark areas of the rest of his body and the girl's body. Otherwise, the light will appear unrealistic for the outdoor scene.
Just right! Your adjustment makes it possible to see more than ever the interaction between the two siblings. That's the finishing touch on an image that has so many other great characteristics.
EDIT: Uh oh! I wrote too hastily. Your brightening of the boy's face also brightened the sky. Go back and erase the bright part of the sky.
The perfect example of getting that DoF spot on for the situation. Great capture Joanne.
Great image. Would make or and ideal photo on park's brochure.
Irene
Really nice shot. Great capture of the action! I guess all that practice shooting your daughter's field hockey has really paid of...
As everyone already said, great shot! I agree.
Wonderful work Joanne and your dodging will be perfect once you put the sky back as it should be!
