    Maybe a tad brighter with tone curves would help achieve your goal? Pushing the "clarity" (in Lightroom) slider below middle can make an interesting, soft, and sometimes slightly un-natural soft effect.

    Those are big colorful flowers!

    They are just coming into bloom so i will have chance to try your suggestions. they are fair sized, these two would fill my hands if they were cupped as if i was scooping a drink out of a stream.
