Taking pictures again? why dont you go fiddle with your helicopter and stop embarrassing me with your excellent work?
Nicely done, very crisp.
I'm liking it a lot but I do wonder the thought process in determining "how much haze" to cut through.
Nice shot (as always) Colin. I love those sea shots that look like they are monochrome conversions, but are actually coloured. The conditions look just about perfect; nice diffuse lighting, the water behaving itself and being close to being a perfect mirror and all those nasty things in the background have been hidden by the fog.
No dust bunnies on the sensor either, it seems (or at least a nice cleanup job). The only thing that I don't understand is the title of the shot; there has to be an explanation there...
Beautiful image! To me, it depicts loneliness, even sadness. The calmness & serenity really have an impact!
Beautiful, one of my favourite images of yours. (and there are many!)
Super....a mind sweeper.....
Lovely image. I can hear the fog horn in the distance.

This one definitely elicits a WOW response. Very nice.

Super image Colin
I like it Colin, simple and peaceful.
Very nice!
Thanks folks - very kind of you all.
@ William: It's a judgement call. Images like this trend towards high-key anyway, so I just "go with the flow" to a degree. To be honest, deciding on the level of the fog and frame were harder choices. I shot 5 shot 1 EV brackets and every time it was the -1 frame that appealed the most - so that's what I ran with, with only a minor levels adjust. It was looking like pretty much SOOC for a while, but in the end I pushed the contrast on the boat a little and a couple of other tricks. I think choosing the frame tone probably took longest of all.
@ Manfred: Re: the title - I thought that was an easy one this time. Blind faith and obedience to the captain is what's required to safely sail a boat in fog like this! Sensor spots were't an issue at F3.2 (which - before people ask - is "F2.8 except for an accidental slip of the finger on the index wheel while shooting") (I had to move fast - I'd already left it a bit too long, and the fog was burning off REAL quick).
Nicely done, Colin. I prefer the more recent shot. No doubt you have learned a thing or two and have better equipment now than when when you took the first shot
Nice . Well, guess they said it all.
Maybe a "foggier" blurry version would be nice too.
(minus the frame.)
