I would try to slightly tone done the yellow highlights in the sky. At the moment I find they are overwhelming the subtle muted tones of the foreground. Possibly even crop them out, which will create an entirely different sort of scene.
I completely agree with Geoff
Thanks Geoff and Binnur.
What I saw was that the brightness of the sky and the blown highlights. I was thinking that that is what the viewer would see first, not the delicate colors of the hills and the fog.
Geoff, you picked up on this, too. i will post a version with a different crop in a bit.
Marie
Hi Marie. I love the mist in valleys and flowing down out of the hills.
The horizon is near the center so the viewer's attention is divided between the sky and the land. Perhaps if you cropped off the top, leaving the reddish light between the clouds, that would help keep the viewer's attention on the misty land.
A definite improvement. Very moody.
I like it with the crop.
Thanks! I like this image better with the crop Geoff suggested.
Marie
So now you know that you only have to wait for Geoff to get a proper assessment...j/k...
Marie, although I like the second crop better, your notation at the start of the thread doesn't match your shot much...I believe and I am sure, that this shot, if you crop it square with the orangy overdone cloud toned down a little bit will look nicer. You'll get no argument with me about the mist -- it is an excellent shot especially with the second shot. But I'd like to go the other way and go for more subtle orangy cloud, just like how you described it at the start of your post.
Marie,
I can see both Geoff/Binnur's and Izzie's suggestions would create equally worthwhile images but I guess it boils down to what was your intended subject, if the sky then I'm with Izzie, but if you changed your mind (photographers perogative) on seeing the final image, the other idea works.
Interesting image either which way.

Marie I like both version for differing reasons, the sky in your first image then the foreground tweak you did in the second. Maybe a mix of both would create a stronger image?
More than just a sunset, the rolling fog gives more to what would be an ordinary sunset. Nicely done.
The revised version works much nicer for me in every aspect.
I agree with Ken
