Trying out the UWA, didn't realize how close you have to get, I was nearly stepping on her toes.

Great pcikup line John; "gee I didn't know I was that close, it's my camera's fault".

Getting to Caribana has been on my "to do" list for a long time; looks like I'll have to bring my UWA rather than something longer; thanks for the great idea.

By the way, nice shots too...

I don't care for the distortion that is often evident when shooting humans with UWA lenses. The top of the human seems to show up quite large on small spindly legs.

However, if you wanted to accentuate the dancer's rather ample bust-lines, the UWA certainly did that....

I also don't really like the super deep DOF achieved with a UWA lens because it doesn't separate the human subject from the BG.

And some of us have no option but the beach and water to play with our UWAs John.

Love No 1, a great smile.

John, you look like you had quite an array of subjects to choose from but where are the handsome men?

Seriously though, I would have liked to have seen some compositions where the full head feathers were in the composition. Maybe not possible with that lens?

    Hi Shane,

I tried a few portraits but couldn't capture everything, I'll post to this thread; also a few guy shots just for you.

    Thanks Izzie,

I knew I had to get close but didn't realize how close until I dropped the camera from eye level.

Re: Caribana Dancer: Eyes and Lashes

It seems the world is constantly backlit or at least from where I'm standing. This was shot at 35mm focal length but just as close as with the UWA.
