Hi Mark, these are super abstracts I like them all, I think I would like #2 more if it was up side down and #3 more if it was rotated 90 degrees anti-clockwise, but this is just my taste.
Great concept, which works well. For me, the third one is a bit symmetrical.
Thanks to Paul and Binnur, though I wish Paul was instead attending to his Iceland photos; he's delaying me being able to see them.
I can see using more negative space at the top of the third one than at the bottom, as Paul suggests.
Thanks for the suggestion about the second one, Binnur. I've now changed it in the first post of the thread. Interestingly, now that the thingies are pointing upward, I feel that I need to add a little more negative space to the top, whereas I didn't feel that way when they were pointing downward.
I can also see the third one being displayed vertically. If so, I would need to add some negative space on the left. More important, I see these three images as being displayed side-by-side, which means all of them need to be horizontally oriented.
Nice shots Mike, and aptly titled.
Now what are these shots of? Some kinds of grasses?
Thanks, Manfred.
Yes, the subjects are grass growing in ponds. I assume the grasses were remaining upright earlier in the year but most times I saw them they were bent over and floating on the surface of the water.
Hi Mike, I think I like the rotated #2, it seems good without adding negative space at the top
I like the set Mike with #2 (as rotated) being the strongest in this orientation. I think I would like the third presented vertically like Binnur but I can see how you would want the present them all with the same orientation.
All three have a very nice sense of movement and I think that one could spend a lot of time pondering the first.
Although these images appear simple in their presentation they are very difficult to spot and capture as you have done here. Nice work!

Thanks to Binnur and Shane.
The more I thought about the last one, the less I liked the idea of displaying it vertically because the image kept reminding me of a tee pee. I finally realized what was needed to make it work better, at least for me, in the horizontal version. First, it needed an asymmetric composition as Paul mentioned. Second, it required one other subtle change that I won't describe. You may not even notice what the change is and I would actually like that so long as the image also works better for you.
I see what you did...but I won't tell I do think this asymmetrical edit is an improvement and I do see what you mean about vertically it appearing like a teepee....but....I still want to see it as my neck it getting tired trying to see it in the light box
I think it would be a different image in that orientation but it is your prerogative as the artist to choose its presentation.
Ironically, one reason I've got tee pees on the brain is because we saw several of them in Lofoten.
Even more reason to show it to us that way Mike...I'm just pulling your leg now, my friend
Hi Mike,
Great set. I especially love the revised version of #3. Beautiful!
Great images and whilst they are obviously all the same grass they are all very different. Number 2 is my favourite.
Hi Mike, I see what you did to #3 too, but I won't tell like Shane Revised version of #3 looks fine.
Continued thanks, everyone! Note to self: there's no hiding anything from Binnur or Shane.
