    Checkered Cloth and Apricots

On the same rafting trip, this colorful display of apricots picked from a heritage orchard along the river and placed on this blue checkered cloth caught my eye. Again, without tripod. Comments and thoughts?

Drop-dead beautiful colors. I really like the contrast of the warm and cool tones. Though I prefer diffuse light to contrasty light for this type of scene, the light is so diffuse that the three-dimensional shape of the fruit is lost; if there was at least a hint of shadows, their shape would be revealed. Consider using a square format for increased impact.

Thanks Mike. Your suggestions would surely help. It was a spur of the moment opportunity. I could adjust the cropping a bit to make it more square as you suggest.

Hi Time fab colours and image concept, i think the square crop would be better as well, personally for this kind of shot i like everything to be as "right" as possible and id have turned the bad fruit, but like you said it was a grab shot and a good one at that, well done

    I agree with previous comments.

Looking straight down, from directly above, does make me feel slightly uneasy. Or is it on a wall; which makes me wonder about why the fruit doesn't fall out!

Shooting from an angle would appear more natural, but there can be problems getting sufficient depth of sharp focus, unless you combine two or more shots with different focus points. But that creates a number of other potential problems.

Exposure and focus have worked fine, and the colours look natural.
