Hey Brian,
You render this "plant portrait" in such warm, soft, and low-key tones that I,
for one, would welcome it in and no question asked! …possibly the friendliest
rendition of what many would call a invading monster!
I did try to keep it the way it looks in the yard. Here is a quote from the damning article: (wikipedia) The plant is a serious invasive species in certain areas. It is known as 'wild kahili ginger' and is listed as a weed of concern on conservation land in New Zealand,[1] Hawaii[2] and the Azores.[3]
It has been recognized as one of "The World's 100 Worst Invasive Alien Species" by the IUCN Invasive Species Specialist Group (ISSG).
Perhaps you know why they are called "invasive" but I will tell you anyway...it is because if you do not contain it (put in a container) it sort of grows out of control. Before you know it, they take over a good chunk of your property. Pretty much like some bamboo or bird of paradise kind of of thingie or even some herbs like peppermint.
Anway, your shot here is most beautiful, if I may say that...I love the colours and the drama in this shot...
Like a wilted candlelabra, nicely done.
Very nice image Brian
